What I Learned In My English 1010 Class

After being a member of this class I realize being successful in life or school requires the ability to organize, arrange and compose thoughts into a comprehensible format. I learned what makes a paper good or bad and what makes it easier to write a good paper and how much effort you put into learning the material will translate into making you a better writer. Reflecting on the past months I have notice that our English 1010 class I have learned skills necessary to develop narratives, informative, research and persuasive essays. These are essential attributes needed to become successful in today’s society. In previous English courses that I have been in. I never realized that essay writing skills were so important. Because of this class my attitude toward writing has improve into an understating of what it takes to be a good writer. Without the knowledge of why writing skills were importing. I was concerned about “just getting by”.

The writer must keep the readers interest in his/her work. Before this course I never thought about using quotes to develop a point before. To find a quote that correctly states what you want to say is very difficult and time consuming. The time it takes to find the right quote is well worth it. It raises the literary work to another plateau. A quote gives the reader something to think about. The reader discover what the quote means to him/herself. In one of my essays I used a quote by Og Mandino “failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is to strong enough”. With this quote I felt help me sum up what I was trying to have the reader identify. I wanted the reader to understand that my life is the way it is because my determination to succeed is to strong
