The boys went through a lot on this island that could have also been, what things were on the island. If the pigs weren’t there, would that have changed the whole story, what if Piggy never found that conch, would the whole group of boys still have been together? This reveals that even though Ralph wants to get rescued, he needs the help of the other boys to contribute to that. Ralph is getting irritated with Jack because he let the fire go out for their rescue. This reveals the start of Ralph’s and Jack’s argument, which commenced because Jack let the fire go out, when he was the one in charge of watching the fire. Ralph decides to build a fire signal for their rescue, however the fire grows out of control. This reveals that even though the boys were smart enough to start a fire signal for their rescue, they are still young boys that probably didn’t know the full knowledge of making a fire, which caused the fire to grow out of control. These things together show that the fire symbolizes their need for rescue and help out of the island, but it also shows how the fire grows out of control, just like the boys. All Jack wants to do now is hunt for pigs instead of helping Ralph plan for a rescue. This reveals how Ralph wants the help from the others to get rescued and survive in the meantime, but Jack doesn’t seem to care and all he wants to do now is hunt for pigs. This means that in the beginning of the story Jack still has that piece of innocence left, and thinks that killing that pig is not the right thing to do, but later on in the story he becomes the pig killer. Piggy argues with Jack about how Jack is a human not an animal, which shows how Jack cares more about killing the pigs instead of actually helping get rescued. This reveals that now in the story Jack is considered like an animal to Piggy because all he does is hunt for pigs like an animal predator, and how he does not care at all about being rescued. These things together show that Jack is not in the right state of mind to help the others for their rescue, instead he is so focused on killing the pigs that if it was up to him he would stay on the island, he has completely forgotten the real reason why they ended up on the island and their plan to survive for their rescue. Jack doesn't like how they have to follow the rules the chief (Ralph) has given them. This reveals how in the story Ralph and Jack wanted to be chief but in the end Ralph was chosen as their leader, this caused Jack to dislike what Ralph has done to the rules.
