Everything Everything is a story about love. There are many different types of love from parental, to romantic. This book attempts to explore these love-filled relationships and how they relate to teenage mentality. This book sends a powerful message to teenagers about emotions and how they respond to them. The three major relationships in this novel titled Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon, include mother-daughter, mentor/student, and boy-girl love which relate to freshman because they are experiencing a time of growth and change with all of their relationships in their life. The first relationship is between mentor/student. Carla is not just a nurse to Maddy, she is also her companion. She takes care of her when her mother is away, so they spend a lot of time together. Carla is a kind-hearted, hard working woman who cares for Maddy like she is her own daughter. Carla is very courageous and bold; she will stand up for the right thing no matter what the consequences are. I think that Carla made Maddie stronger and gave her more hope. Olly is a typical teenage boy who moves next door to the unordinary teenage girl, Maddy. Olly is mysterious and very intriguing. Olly and Maddy experience a deep connection for each other. They start messaging online and they instantly hit it off. Maddy feels so attached to Olly she tells him about her illness. The first time Olly and Maddy meet they instantly fall in love. They don’t have a classic teenage love story; theirs is different. Because of Maddy’s illness their love is challenged but remains strong and intense.
