“Children are the keys to Paradise” Eric Hoffer. Children can make us smile and laugh often even though sometimes they may get on our nerves. Although the time I spent at Oak Ridge Elementary with Mrs. Monahan’s class of 18 crazy kindergartens that are at five to six years old I had the time of my life. From 8:30 to 9:50 I went and in volunteering there during that time they had snack time, story time, and had stations with all different types of activities. The room was made for learning with letters on the walls, bookshelves filled with colorful books, and even a little kitchen they could pretend to make food. While volunteering I saw all different types of theorists theories used throughout the day. One of the first theory’s I saw was …show more content…
The consequence of it being taken away stopped him from playing with the bells on it. One of the last Skinner theories I noted was the use of Analytical intelligence, being able to recall. I saw this being used when they played a game of “bug under the rug” when for example Miah would close her eyes and the teacher would pick a random student like Adam to go under a towel. Miah would then open her eyes and have to be able to recall who is gone, she would have to remember where everyone was sitting, who is gone, and what their name was. Another theorist that I noted while volunteering was Gardner and his idea that children have all different types of intelligences; one I noted more often than others is the musical intelligence. An example of this is Mrs. Monahan plays songs for the children, last week while reviewing the alphabet she played a song that made the kids sound it out, and think of a word for each letter. It surprised me how much they can actually learn through a song and how they find it so fun, but little do they know they're actually learning. Vygotsky also came up …show more content…
I saw this happening in the classroom during stations, one station had about four to five students and one teacher teaching more about letters, and writing. This shows the Vygotsky theory by using more individual learning, all while having peers to help. One day while observing that station I saw Bobby help out Abby with what they were doing. It made me smile how at that station the teacher promoted learning along with other peers, although the only praise they got was a good job it made the kids smile. My last Vygotsky theory was his idea of working in groups like tables is better the desks. I agree with his idea, and I saw it being used in the classroom. Sometimes after reading a story they would have to draw the setting or some characters, although sometimes when they forgot the setting friends reminded them or gave them hints or clues to remember then they got it. When in tables they can all work together to figure out a answer to a question rather than by themselves because If they do not know they could get frustrated and just give up. I have seen many different theories throughout,
