7. Describe the students' responses to the lesson. In this lesson, the students’ responses were magnificent. They all seemed to have a solid background or prior knowledge of the content that Mrs. Taylor was teaching and used academic language accordingly. They seemed to use vocabulary that they had learned in previous lessons to help answer the questions for this lesson. Taylor. Reason being, is that only other assessment posed in the lesson, was their worksheet that they worked on throughout the lesson. To me the worksheet was a summative assessment that highlighted the key parts of what the students should be mastered. The discussions on the other hand, allowed Mrs. Taylor to determine where her students were continuously throughout the lesson. Having these questions answered during class, would allow Mrs. Taylor the opportunity to either focus more on an area of need, or if the students were ready to move onto a more complex subject. 9. From the entirety of the lesson I only saw one instance that Mrs. Taylor had to control inappropriate behavior. During the time when the students were to walk over to the experiment area of the classroom, two students got into an argument about who sat in a certain spot first. Mrs. Taylor asked both of these students to stand up, and walk over to the other side of the classroom to talk. When she was talking to them, she told them that they were not acting like the kind and respectful students that she knew them to be.
