There are many problems in the world. The main problem I n the 1800s was slavery. Many people tried to solve the problem of slavery. For example the government tried also groups and individuals made many attempts to deal with the issue of slavery and prevent war. Slavery used to be a big problem in the 1800s. During the time of slavery people in the South would make Slaves do all their labor. The south was a huge fan of slavery. Many plantation workers would buy slaves usually African Americans and force them to do there work for them.. Most owners or masters would treat their slaves terribly not all masters did this. While the South was loving and enjoying slavery the North was completely against it. One way is a law instituted by the U.S. congress. In Document 6 it states that the law was “you shall no longer buy new slaves or sell slaves anymore”. This law made getting rid of slavery because you can no longer get new slaves or sell your old ones. The government did not stop thinking of ways to get rid of slavery forever. Now they have made the Missouri Compromise of 1820. According to the text it states “congress was compelled to establish a policy to guide the expansion of slavery into the new western territory” also “Missouri entered as a free state while main entered as a slave state”. All this did was keep the power in the Senate even. While they thought the Missouri Compromise would help it really did not help get rid of the issue of slavery. Going on to 1854 the government has come up with the Kansas-Nebraska Act.
