William Shakespeare wrote The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare was famous for his poems and plays, this particular play is Shakespeare’s most famous play because of how it affirms the true power of love over play. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet takes place in the streets of Verona where 2 families are always fighting with each other, the Montagues and Capulets. Romeo meets Juliet at Capulet’s party. When Friar John goes to Friar Lawrence to tell him that he was unable to send the message, Friar Lawrence responds, “The letter was not nice,/ but full of charge,/ Of dear import; and the neglecting it/ May do much danger.” (Shakespeare 5.2.18-20) Friar John is at fault because he failed to give the message to Romeo about Friar Lawrence’s plan. If Romeo got the message from Friar John, he would’ve never bought the poison to kill himself, and he would’ve just waited for Juliet to wake up. Although Friar John is one of the reasons why Romeo and Juliet died, he couldn’t send the message because they thought he had a plague, this lends to why it is Romeo’s fault that he only liked Juliet for her looks. Romeo hides in a brush and sees Juliet on the balcony talking to herself, Romeo admires her by saying, “The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars /As Daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven Would through the airy region stream so bright/ That birds would sing and think it were not right.” (Shakespeare 2.2.19-22) Romeo never really cared about what Juliet was doing because he was only admiring Juliet’s looks instead of what she was saying during this
