Romeo and Juliet is a story about the infamous Shakespeare. Shakespeare's best novel is Romeo and Juliet. The story is full of romance but also gruesome killing. This story has you wondering if Romeo and Juliets love is really true love at first sight or just love. There are two young lovers from feuding families in a place called Verona, Italy. These two lovers are caught in a whirlwind of romance that leads to a tragedy. This play by Shakespeare has many different themes. One theme is obviously love, demonstrating Romeo and Juliets love for each other. The other theme is fate, demonstrating Romeo and Juliet's fate and death. It makes us contemplate our own decisions today and the forces that shape our destiny. When diving into the tale of Romeo and Juliet, there is a debate whether the horrible end of the two lovers is truly predestined by fate or simply the consequence of the two lovers themselves. Although the two families have a big part in Romeo and Juliet's death, they are not all to blame. Another individual to blame is Friar Laurence. These violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph die; like fire and powder, which, as they kiss, consume: the sweetest honey is loathsome in its own deliciousness, and in the taste confounds the appetite: therefore love moderately: long love doth so. (Shakespeare, 1597, p.111). This quote from Act Two, Scene Six by Friar Laurence tells us that marrying Romeo and Juliet in secret was most definitely not a good decision in the first place. This quote also tells us that even Friar Laurence knew that in the end it would not end up well considering the fact that he said these violent delights have violent ends.
