Josiah Pittman Ms. Rivera English 2C 22 March 2024 Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, published in 1597, tells the story of two lovers destined for demise, from two rivaling families. Meeting at a party Romeo shouldn't have even been invited to, finds his lover, which would ultimately be the end for him and her. This does not downplay that there were other contributing factors to Romeo and Juliet's death, such as Friar Lawrence marrying them together, Capulet forcing unwanted marriage, or even Peter the servant even inviting Romeo to the party in the first place. Also, Romeo's Fatal Flaw always gets him into bad situations. Such as when he acted without thought and killed Tybalt out of anger. Romeo’s impulsiveness would’ve been his demise from the start, any form of acting without thought can cause problems, especially like killing someone from the family of your lover out of revenge. Romeo and Juliet both have their problems and should have thought ahead before acting. Some Authority Figures like Capulet and Friar Lawrence contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet by planning their marriage and secretly marrying them, Like threatening to disown your daughter unless she marries someone. To start, Friar Lawrence decided to marry the two children of the biggest rival families in Verona because he hoped it would end their family feud. He also decided to make a Plan with many flaws for Juliet so she wouldn't have to marry Paris, ultimately causing both Romeo and Juliet's Deaths. Lawrence should take blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married the two families and created a plan for Juliet that did not work
