Have you ever wondered who was to blame for the famous Romeo and Juliet’s tragic ending? The star-crossed lovers aren't at all to blame for what happened to them, but rather, their parents are. More specifically, the Capulet parents. The Capulet parents are the most to blame because they forced Juliet to marry someone she didn’t love and were overall bad parents. The Capulet parents tried to make Juliet marry someone she hardly even knew the name of. After telling Paris he needed Juliet’s consent, Lord Capulet later retracts his claim and forces Juliet to marry him because of how it would benefit him, and that’s just selfish on his part. In Act 1, Scene 2, Lord Capulet tells Paris “My will to her consent is but a part. And she agrees, within scope of choice lies my consent and fair according voice.” and later contradicts this by saying “To go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or I will drag thee on a hurdle tither.” This shows that he never cared about what Juliet wanted. …show more content…
They thought they were keeping Juliet safe, but they really just ignored her and never thought about what Juliet may have wanted. I believe the Capulet parents are the main cause of their deaths because the Capulet parents kept them away from each other and they loved each other so much that they couldn’t live without one another, but the Capulet parents took them away from one another just because they were from different families which overall caused their deaths. They’re overall awful parents, Lord Capulet states “That God had lent us but this only child; But now I see this one is one too much.” Showing that he doesn’t even want her if she won’t marry Paris, and only wants a child if they’ll agree with him, and he basically told Juliet that he doesn’t want her, which causes her to rebel and try the plan that leads to the lovers’
