The amount of blame in The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet can be spread among many individuals in the play; However the most blame is put on Juliet for this unfortunate series of events. Juliet's inability to wake up and realize that this boy isn’t worth everything caused her to provoke a caustic series of events that resulted in plenty of unneeded death. Many would say that women are not very likely to actually experience “love at first sight.” or just marry a man when you first meet him. In this play you’ll actually see that Juliet is quite the opposite of this, in fact she is so affectionate for Romeo that it’s the definition of love at first sight. Since Romeo and Juliet were married in secret her parents don't know, and because they don't know Juliet’s already married Lord Capulet set her up to marry Paris. How does Juliet get out this? Juliet fakes her own death with a potion from the friar which devastated her family and further complicates the plan. “Romeo, I come! this do I drink to thee.”-Juliet (Shakespeare) This is a boneheaded move for many reasons. She has just risked her life, taking a potion that puts you in a deathlike trance for almost two days. That’s an obvious health risk. She has also just devastated her family which now to her are people worth less than Romeo “And with my child my joys are buried.”-Capulet (Shakespeare) Now Juliet not only has devastated her family but now she has also complicated the plan so severely that it has a high chance of failure. Just because her Romeo was so important she has made a terrible decision that unknowingly led to catastrophic events. Now even after all this many of you may still argue that in reality it’s the friars fault for giving Juliet the potion to take in the first place.
