Why A Book Should Be Taught In Middle School

When given the option to pick between letting the teacher choose the year’s reading, or letting the students, I chose to let the students select the reading for the next year. First, it can teach us to work together and improve our arguing skills. We could also read a book we are interested in, something everyone prefers to do. Finally, the book might be one that we are familiar with and understand. These reasons are extremely helpful for several reasons.
Although the teacher might not be able to work the lesson as well with the book, it could teach us to work together and improve our arguing skills. We would all offer a book, then work together as a class to agree on one. The class would then need to work together as a group to pick a book that the majority would enjoy. We would also be required to argue our book as the best one choice for the class. This would improve our arguing skills by making us fight to nominate our book as the best. When we are forced to do something that we are not interested in, we tend to not be able to pay attention as well. This is important do to the fact that if we can’t pay attention, then we can’t learn anything to improve our skills, which can lead to lousy grades. No doubt that we have all been forced to read a terrible book in school that nobody liked. If we chose books that we are all interested in, this would no longer be a problem. In the end, we could actually enjoy reading the assigned books, leading to better grades and everyone
