To remove any temptation for their students, Dublin, located in Ireland, has banned fast food business from operating anywhere near 250 metres of school campuses. This was reported by The Sunday Times (The Times 2016). another country that has proved its seriousness when it comes to healthy school lunch programs, is France. As reported by The Huffington Post, schools in France restricted access to junk food in their premises and have banned soft drinks filled with chemicals and vending machines that offer unhealthy snacks to the students. They believe that more time needs to be dedicated into lunch time so children can enjoy what they eat and not feel rushed. Seeking to develop a better lifestyle for students should be considered as a necessity and not optional. Failure to have such type of rules and regulations will definitely costs these children’s well-beings. It is known that bodies of young people, are especially good in identifying if they are full or not, so when more food is forced and eating is without limit, this ability goes away and prompting high levels of eating more. At home, parents should set an example to their kids. If they lead a certain unhealthy lifestyle, their children will follow what they do. Parents should be walking the walk so their children can do the same (Medline Plus n.d.). Most of the junk foods are served in big portions. There’s more tendency to eat way more than what is needed. If the portions were less, maybe people wouldn’t eat as much. Being active bans calories, if the food eaten can easily be banned, well and good. In most cases, that is not case, it is hard to lose the calories especially if the person is not as active.
