Vatican II, also known as the Second Vatican Council, was a prominent historical event that took place in the catholic church in between 1962 and 1965. The Vatican council brought all the bishops and leaders from all around the world to come together and talk about future changes in the church. Vatican II occurred because the church could see a change in social, cultural and political views in the 20th century. This had a big impact on the church in a good way and its followers. The council also changed the form of the Mass so it was divided into four parts instead of two. The people in the church started to recognize that a lot of people attending mass were finding it hard to have a spiritual connection because everything was being spoken in a language they couldn't understand. The reason why this changed was because the people in the church felt confused and as I said before they couldn't connect spiritually towards God. The importance of going to Mass is making sure you feel engaged. Mass is a time to be still and think about your own beliefs and for you to participate in a service that can grow your spirituality. It can bring you to a sense of peace and purpose if you feel that you are fully engaged. As the world began to change the church realized they had to change to remain engaged and relevant with its people. Modern technology was needed in the church to be able to communicate effectively to all people around the world, which led to other important changes in how the church moved forward with the media. Mass was streamed via television and radio for mass and other religious events, allowing people to engage in mass from their homes. A wider audience was able to be reached allowing people to have access to religious education who may not have had this access in the past pre Vatican II.
