Why I Chose To Stay In English Honors

English was never an easy subject for me nor my favorite. I had no interest in reading and struggled majorly with writing and grammar. My parents always forced me into constantly reading and writing sentences. That didn’t influence me to do better. Not until a few years ago, when I picked up the perfect book and was instantly attached to reading it. I was eager to find more books like that. I’ve realized that it was a matter of finding the perfect genre to hook someone into reading. Ever since then, I have become motivated to write, read, and being able to expand my book genre choices. As English is still debatably my weakest subject, I believe that I should stay in English Honors because it would keep me at a moderate level of learning, and I can’t fully guarantee myself to keep up with the …show more content…

My goal is not to get into a class that can get me an easy grade; it’s just that I’d rather be some spending time learning and pursuing what I love to do other than constantly writing essays after essays. Teachers and friends have told me that taking AP English Language and Composition allows the opportunity to earn college credits at certain colleges. Taking AP courses can look good on resumes as well. That is probably why many want to take the class. Honestly, that used to be a reason why I wanted to take the class as well. I’ve heard from a couple of people that the workload is a ton. Every teacher handles their class differently, since it has so many different potential readings and assignments, but in general, there is a wide variety of writing to learn. As many of my friends are eager to take AP English LangCom, I know that it is best for me to not take a huge step or follow their footsteps. Although I am motivated to take challenges, deep in my heart, I know that I do not passionately love writing and can’t force myself to love it
