I’m working at has a bad stigma from the local areas. I have had to defend my job and my students a lot to the community and other teachers. I work with a veteran staff and I have had the opportunity to work with great teachers. I feel welcomed and the principal is trusting in my abilities and has provided me the opportunity to run my own program and I’m still making adaptations to reach all of the students. I think the reason I have been given this vote of confidence is because of the training and the development from my previous school district and principal in Phoenix. I have received a lot of professional development in my specific field and we had many opportunities to better ourselves. I also contribute my schooling through American College of Education to make me a better classroom teacher. I have learned so much in this program that I use in my class that has helped me raise student achievement and help me with community programs for my class and teams. I know we get evaluated twice a year, but you need to stop and see your staff at least once every few weeks to gain a connection with them and show them that you are willing to help them. New teachers need more support because of the lack of experience. It’s hard being new because you are going to experience things you never have during student teaching. The administrators need to show that they support their staff by providing development opportunities and showing that they want to be an integral part of their development. I am lucky to have the principal I have now because she is supportive of me and actually thanks me for what I do for the school.
