Ever since the technology evolution inspired by the rise of military-industrial complex, the government and private corporations funded millions of research with the goal to improve people’s welfare. With such noble ambition in mind, Eisenhower reminds us in his last speech that intellectual and capitalism should be independent. Research for the purpose of welfare improvement should not be hinder or delay by any other special interest. However, in today food industry, research for health improvement are pushed aside by research for sales enhancement. Funded by corporations who sole interest is to increase their profit, Pollen claims that many “food scientists spend their days designing the future of food- its flavor, texture, and packaging (92).”

In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle or end people’s curious thoughts of what consumers are buying, it is necessary for people to know what is in their food. This may seem like an obvious statement but it can be difficult for consumers to know exactly what is being put in their body after a meal. In 2008, Robert Kenner makes sure that this situation is addressed in his film Food, Inc. In this film, they discuss the fact there are potentially harmful chemicals used on animals when putting them out for food.

The novel Fast Food Nation and the movie Food Inc. both reflect the reality of the food industry. Mortals consume food everyday but no one really knows what happens behind the production of meat or more revolting, what is inside the food itself. These two sources enlighten consumers’ minds towards the dark side of food production. In some ways, humans, animals, and the environment are affected negatively by the evolution of the food industry. Chemicals are start being used in productions and money seems to be running the law instead of human sense.
In Food Inc., by Robert Kenner his film, portrays the American food industry as an environmentally and economically corrupt system. By exposing his audience to the practices of large factories, Kenner tries to convince us that we are misinformed. The combination of tone and scene-shots used in the film serve to support the idea that, compared to rural farms, the conduct of massive food companies is selfish, unethical and ultimately damaging to the industry. It is clear from the very start that the movie, Food Inc. is a criticism and argument on todays food processing industry, and evident that it is a negative one at that. As a consumer, knowing what is being put into my food is important. How healthy and fresh our food is, is on many people’s minds. By watching Ingredients by Robert Bates, people can have a better understanding of how consumers should see food differently like farmers do. An understanding of our food system is important so consumers can be aware of the risks people deal with when food is involved.

There are many professions a person can succeed at for doing what they love. For example, Nursing, geologist, and a middle school teacher can lead a successful career. However, the profession of a veterinarian allows people who love saving animals' lives have an opportunity to make that their career. A singular person pursuing a career in being a veterinarian would want to go to University of California--davis. As a student interested in being a veterinarian i want to go to University of California--davis because their veterinarian program is #1 in universities for the veterinary field.
These numbers are rapidly increasing. Wasted food is not only devastating to the ones in need but it then gets pilled up in landfills. This makes further problems for workers and the environment. To decrease the amount of food wasted, people have invented some ways to preserve fresh food. According to an article called “Food Processing.”, published by the editors of Encyclopedia, “A number of food-processing innovations have even resulted in new products, such as concentrated fruit juices, freeze-dried coffee, and instant foods” (par. 2).
