When my sister came to me yelling as loud as her voice could pass threshold about how she dropped out of college, abandoning her goal in pursuing her degree in Nursing, my heart stopped immediately. And with her eyes glowing, her hands shaking, and her distressing look on her face, I knew that she was profound. And after that awe-dropping moment, I knew that my interest in the healthcare field needed to become a reality. Getting up every morning as a PEOPLE scholar, in the summer, feeling as if I was still in school, I’m living my dream as a healthcare manager with an internship in the healthcare field. I’m learning about different strategies to promote professionalism, and knowing exactly what is expected of me when pursuing a career in this field. I realized that a career in the healthcare profession is the ideal fit for me. I will gain valuable experience that will prepare me for the challenges that UW-Madison will bring.
