Veterinary Technician
The knowledge of being able to give lives a second chance to animals is a great feeling while being a veterinary technician. Being a veterinary technician has many roles, perks, and responsibilities. Being a veterinary technician requires schooling/training and it also comes with good benefits and well pay. I love working and being around animals. Vet Techs come with many roles and responsibilities also. I believe that it is a unique job and something that would be fun and enjoyable.

Vet techs use medical knowledge and clinical skills to provide routine and emergency nursing care under the direction of a veterinarian. (All Allied Health Schools, n.d.). One of the most challenging jobs of a vet tech is to word their conversations in words that their clients are able to understand simply. There are so many different roles you could maintain as a veterinary technician. The job of a vet tech is to handle basic responsibilities in a veterinary facility so that the veterinarian can focus on other more complex tasks and procedures (Veterinary Medicine Careers, 2014). A typical day for a Veterinary Technician may involve collecting specimens, forming relationships with human and animal clients, physically restraining nervous pets to prevent injury, conducting lab tests, working directly alongside the vet during a surgical procedure, giving an animal its medication, and even working with exotic animals (IMBC, 2023). The perks of becoming a veterinary technician is you can either work solo or with other vets. Working with other vets is beneficial because you have other people to help restrain and hand you items you may need while working on an animal. In the United States, half of all veterinary technicians make salaries greater than $29,700 per year. The top 10 percent of earners bring home $44,000 or more. At the same time, the lowest-paid vet techs earned less than $20,500 in 2010. The average salary is $31,035. (Vet Tech Guide, 2009-2016). Veterinary technicians come with other things such as 401K, disability insurance, and retirement plans. Direct pay is only one answer to the question, “how much do vet techs make?” Another component of total compensation is the benefits package.
