Why Is Abortion Considered A Crime

Many women in the United States today are having legal abortions but do not think about the life the fetus could potentially have. Women do not think about pregnancy only being temporary but abortion being permanent. Abortion is a decision that a woman in her first trimester of pregnancy makes. She decides that she does not want the baby and either takes medication or has a surgery done to rid her of the fetus. Abortion should be illegal because it takes away a viable human life and is against most religious and moral practices. Abortion takes away a potential human life. Abortion was classified a crime in most states because it is taking the life of an alive fetus in the womb. If a woman makes the decision to have intercourse, she should have to deal with the outcome and responsibility of a child. Removing a live fetus can be considered murder. If a mother is stressed because of her preschool child, she doesn’t kill the child. The circumstance should be the same during pregnancy. If a pregnant woman is stressed, she should not result in killing her baby. Gale reports, “If the solution to the stresses of pregnancy is killing the preborn child, is killing not also the solution to the stresses of parenting the preschooler?” (Gale 3). If one cannot handle the presence of another human, they do not kill the other. This should be the same with pregnancy.
