Can you imagine society without having police officers, correctional system, or courts? There would be constant crime happening all over the world twenty four seven. To incorporate criminal justice among society we are able to set boundaries in order to keep the peace between people. Criminal justice gives us the opportunity to fairly prosecute and punish those who break those boundaries. It also allows criminals to rehabilitate themselves through the correctional system to be able to contribute to society. Therefore, criminal justice is a necessary component to society to function at its safest and full potential. First, let us define what criminal justice actually means. The courts have three different levels and they are: district courts, circuit courts, and the Supreme Court. Each of these three levels has a crucial part to do with the process of fairly punishing criminals. Once again, in order to ensure that justice is served, it is a thorough process before a final decision is determined. First, District Courts is where either civil or criminal cases are reviewed. The district court is where a case is heard for the first time where a person is allowed to testify federal charges. Second, Circuit Courts where cases can be appealed by the district courts and are reviewed to check if the decision made by the district court was correct and fair. Lastly, Supreme Court which is the highest court that exists within the judicial system. The Supreme Court has the power to overrule any of the decisions made from the district courts or circuit
