The Theory of Evolution as formed by Charles Darwin, says that all species of organisms develop through natural selection and descend from a common ancestor. This theory is sometimes referred to as “survival of the fittest.” Many people (especially scientists and paleontologists in particular) are skeptical of Darwin’s findings due to the lack of evidence supporting the theory accompanied by the evidence that prove other Theories true. The theory conflicts with religious views which adds onto the amount of people who are skeptical of his theory outside of the science community. This being said, it is not even always taught in schools due to the controversy behind it. “In 1999, for example, the Kansas Board of Education voted to remove evolution from the list of subjects tested on state standardized tests, in effect encouraging local school boards to consider dropping or de-emphasizing evolution Linder, 2006)” One of …show more content…
Scientists and Paleontologists alike believe that there have been rapid periods of evolutionary change that are followed by long periods of little evolutionary change. With this being said, I have stumbled across a few people who have related this whole theory with breeding dogs. Different variations of a same breed of dog can be created by breeding two dogs with different genes, but you cannot breed two different dogs and create a cat. “New variations of the species are possible, but a new species has never been developed by science.” (“9 scientific facts prove the ‘theory of evolution’ is false,”
