For week three discussion forum two this student will respond to the following question, “Speak about the educational and cultural considerations for an ELL student who is eligible for special education.”

ELL
English learners come from various cultural backgrounds that are different from school culture and from the home cultures of their native English speaking (NES) peers. A disconnect is created that impacts the process and outcomes of EL students’ education.

Therefore, it is important as educators of English learners the need to familiarize themselves with the cultural backgrounds of their students, seeking reputable, unbiased resources and personal informants to learn about their home countries/regions and languages.
