Trust is when you know you can count on the partner you are working with. An example is “Now we hope that none of you will be slain, but we wish you to know that the kingdom of heaven will be given as a reward to those who shall be killed in this war” (Leo). The people in the army trust the people that if they die, they will go to the kingdom of heaven. Leadership is when a leader takes control and handles it in an effective matter. In the Middle Ages, there were Kings who were in charge in a part of Europe.
Versus followership is the leader that steps back and listens to the problems in a variety of critical thinking styles. An example would be an NCO taking the lead on teaching lower enlisted Soldiers to properly do squad movements. In contrast, to a followership leader that takes orders from a higher commanding person to delegate lower enlisted personnel to learn squad movements by using problem solving and teamwork. They are the ones that is not necessarily there to take charge. Although both types of leaderships may be different, they host similarities being, both types of leaderships improve the organization (the Army) because they work towards a common goal, which is to always complete the mission.

Academics, Character, Leadership, and Service are all required in life to be successful, and be an all around good and respected person. Academics are important for a variety of reasons. In order to be an all around and highly successful adult, you must have all the required education and just really be an intelligent person in general. Having a high intelligence can give you the best advantage to quickly and effectively solve problems that may and will occur in your everyday life.
1 Introduction When you hear about the words ‘servant’ and ‘leader’, what would you think about? Many people will come up with the fact those are contrary words. If you draw a hierarchical pyramid in your mind, the servant is placed in the bottom class and the leader is located in the top part on the contrary. However, there is one leadership theory called servant leadership.
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).

( ) A more comprehensive definition that highlights striking features of a leader is, "A simple definition of leadership is that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.” ( ) A closer scrutiny of the characteristics of an influential leader would many ways assist one, in recognizing those attributes in an attempt to assimilate the best in others.
Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Being a leader in any capacity can be without a doubt a most challenging feat. It depends though on how a person exhibits his or her leadership qualities and so doing will automatically lead by example. According to Liano (2016), “Each day you are leading by example. I think it is important for people to know that my word is good and I back my word up with actions. By following through on my commitments I will build a trusted team where people know they matter and that they can count on me. Being dependable is of high importance; if people cannot depend on me, they will never truly trust me as a leader. Competency I believe competency is a vital value to leading an effective group.
However, nowadays groups, companies and organizations need both powerful leaders and managers to produce desired results. Moreover, Abraham Zaleznik (1977) discussed the parallel between leaders and managers and mentioned that they both make a valuable contribution to an organization; although, each one’s contribution is different (Lunenburg, 2011). While some obvious similarities can be found between leadership and management, there are also some noteworthy differences, as previously stated. The purpose of this essay is to clarify the relationship between leadership and management based on existing literature.
