William Shakespeare, known as “the Bard of Avon,” and for his many plays that were performed in the famous Globe Theater in London. Besides his well-known plays, Shakespeare is known for his poetry, especially his sonnets. In “Sonnet 55” he displays a theme of death and immortality and focuses on how death is unavoidable. At eighteen Shakespeare married, which would be one of the main reasons that he would probably create many plays and poems about romance. Shakespeare's era was the Renaissance, an age of rebirth for human discovery and enlightenment. It is the bridge in between the Middle Ages and the modern history, the term “Renaissance” is translated to “rebirth”, it is the time in European history between 1400 and 1600. The “Renaissance”
