Why Should The Book Night Not Be Banned

Dear school board

Many books have been banned all around for the content that they include or the message that they have. This is called censorship which is the suppression or prohibition of any book, video , news etc. . Some examples of these books are “gender queer”, “all boys aren't blue “,” out of darkness” and many other books but the one that im gonna talk to you about today is the book night by elie wiesel and why i believe it shouldn't be banned.
Personally I am not a big fan of books , once the teacher introduced the books to us I just thought of it as any other book but as soon as we started reading it I realized that I was getting historical information from the book and was also tempted to know what was gonna happen next. However I do understand that some people might agree with the suppression of this book since it includes parts where it talks about how the jews were tortured, killed, forced to work in harsh conditions and more at the concentration camp. It also includes religious beliefs that some people might not agree with . An example of this is where the author mentions that they no longer receive food and lived off the snow which replaced the bread for them in passage 4 .The author also mentions that jews were being burned and put in the …show more content…

It isn't just a good book but provides a lot of information and the best part is that it is from the author's perspective and personal experience. The book talks about what the author had to go through with his father when he was placed in the concentration camp. It provides historical information about what the jews had to go through and how they were treated. I also believe that books like this don't just entertain or inform us but give us a better perspective of the world and our place in it . Banning it will not just restrict the book from the parents' child but restrict it from other kids who would want to read it
