E-Sports vs Sports: Why Video Games Should Be Considered a Sport If you are wondering why “sports” and “video games” are in the same title, it’s because they may not seem as opposite as you think. E-Sports, or electronic sports, are video game competitions between the best of the best teams in sold-out arenas with large sums of money up for grabs. Whether you heard of it or not, it may soon take over quicker than you think, and it’s a great new step in the right direction. E-Sports just need more recognition for television viewing, considering e-sports are more shockingly similar to regular sports than you could imagine. It’s not just speculation that e-sports is a fast growing phenomenon around the world, some statistics show that more people enjoy watching them then actual sports. To make a comparison, we will use NBA as an example for sports and the LCS, or League of Legends Championship Series for e-sports.
