Every person has a unique personality. It is good for students to express themselves because schools should allow everyone to feel comfortable in their own shoes. Schools should not have dress codes unless it has exceeded inappropriateness. Students goals are for other students to express their personality to make them feel comfortable.
School Uniforms shouldn´t be enforced in schools due to students' lack of expression, an increase in bullying, and imposing a fee. The first reason school uniforms shouldn´t be enforced in schools is due to students´ lack of expression, an increase in bullying, and imposing a fee “Dress and appearance should be considered an individual expression, decided by the students themselves” (¨School Uniforms¨). If I were to wear a uniform from school I would feel like I'm not myself, because wearing a uniform doesn´t fit my clothing style and express who I am. It would be hard to recognize students or your friends due to everyone wearing the same clothes.
To begin with, students shouldn’t wear uniforms because it violates a student’s right for freedom. For example, quoting, “https://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/school-uniforms/” by Marian Wilde, “School uniforms violate a student’s right to freedom of expression...makes a target for bullies from other schools, are difficult to enforce in public schools, and are a financial burden for poor families.” This means that some families aren’t able to afford the school uniforms. Which, leads to many students getting bullied for not having uniforms like their
Some parents and people think when we give them uniforms it takes away their freedom of expression and restricts them from showing who they are. This is wrong. They can still express themselves in many ways, such as: wearing unique tennis shoes, styling their hair however they want, mix and matching the uniform pieces, wearing fun jewellery, etc. They can also wear the fun clothing outside of school, whenever they want. Uniforms make it so everyone looks together and one, so no one gets better or worse treatment for what they wear.
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
In 2007, “87.9% of the students were opposed to uniforms at MD public school” (Wharton). There is a debate between parents, students and teachers about school uniforms being enforced in public schools since the 2000’s. Many people say that school uniforms shouldn’t be worn in public schools, while others disagree. Despite the debate, there shouldn't be a need to wear school uniforms. School Uniforms should not be worn because they violate a humans right of freedom of expression.
The limitations for school uniforms are more strict then ever now just because they type of clothing that young kids or young adults are wearing today. School uniforms limits students freedom of expressing themselves. All over the world students are required to wear a uniforms just to make the school look good or have a appropriate professional look. Not enough students has a chance to have a self image
In my opinion I think school uniforms are a bad idea. As you can see they can be very expensive, cause discomfort, prevent students back from expressing themselves, and how they don’t avoid schools from having cliques or groups like you may think. Appeal to action: To meet in the middle, I think schools should not have a uniform policy but instead enforce a stricter dress code. There are already plenty of restrictions upon students. The rules that are already in place are acceptable because they help maintain order on a daily basis.
There are many people who believe school uniforms are a bad idea. The reasonings to support why school uniforms are a bad idea are: school uniforms in public schools undermine free education, it’s an extra expense for families, school uniforms restricts student’s freedom of expression, and lastly uniforms may have a detrimental effect on self image. First of all, school uniforms in public schools undermine free education and are an extra expense for families. Evidence to support this is parents already have so many bills and taxes to pay. Families already have to buy out of school clothes and with uniforms it would add to expenses.
Public schools should not be able to require students to wear uniforms because it limits their individuality, productiveness, and makes bullying more prevalent within the student body. Although many agree that schools should have uniforms because it allows students to have more time in the mornings since they do not have to worry about what to wear. Teaching students from a younger age to have proper time management will help them through the rest of their life. A child could spend their whole adolescent thinking they did not have of spend much time in the morning getting ready.
Dress Codes: Positivity over Prejudice According to the Data Administration, “only 51% of students feel a sense of belonging at school” because of this, school systems should do all that they can to help students feel supported, including abolishing certain harmful punishments such as dress code. School dress codes should be abolished because dress codes have unfair biases towards specific students and if students get in trouble for their clothes they won't feel uplifted and supported at school. Students need positivity and acceptance to feel supported at school, especially when it can feel like they are being told they can't do so much already.
There are three major positions on this issue. The first position is that student dress codes are necessary to produce a safe and productive environment for students, which will facilitate high achievement. The second position goes even farther, and says that dress codes should mandate uniforms for all students, claiming that the uniforms will make students focus more while removing concerns about fashion differences that would otherwise harm their self-esteem. Last, there is the position that school uniforms are unnecessary, and that they pose an unfair cost burden to families and restrict students' constitutional rights to free expression. Each side has some evidence in its favor, but ultimately the lack of hard statistics on costs and grading effects from dress codes make it apparent that more research is necessary to figure out what position has the best support for
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
In the essay, “Schoolwear Association Research Reveals Uniforms Can Be a Powerful Tool,” the printwear and promotion point to a study done by the Schoolwear Association disagrees and points out that having school uniforms will lower bullying caused by where they are from and economic class. They that,”83% of teachers thought "a good school uniform... could prevent bullying based on appearance or economic background. "(Schoolwear Association ). What this means is having school uniforms can lower bullying. While there is some truth to this argument, it is wrong because only teachers think of this and not parents who are the ones who have to pay for uniforms.
Many students that know uniforms will be beneficially, but don’t agree with school uniforms will continue to disagree with implementing them. It can be easily agreed that school uniforms may take away their self-expression in school, but what matters more in school is the way of learning. It can also be agreed that many students do not accept the self-expression of their classmates and make fun of them. Students, parents, and school administration should be able to recognize the benefits that school uniforms come with.
