It was January 2017 and I was 14 years old. We were on Winter break and everything was good. My best friend and I hung out every single day. Her name was Emma. I had met her in the 4th grade because we were in the same class. At first, I was not a fan of her. We fought constantly and disagreed on everything, but soon I would find out that she would be my best friend. At this time in Winter break I had started to notice some things in my household and so did Emma. My parents were fighting all the time. It was weird seeing them fight so much because they never did. I could tell something was going on but I decided to keep quiet because it was not my place to interject. So I carried on and hoped they would work out whatever was going on. I continued to go to Emma's everyday since we had so much time off. It was Sunday and we had 8 days left of break. On this particular Sunday, Emma and I decided to go see a movie. We saw Sing. After the movie was over my mom came to pick us up. I noticed she looked upset. Almost as if she had been crying recently.
