The 1920s led to a major change in a women’s role. In previous years all women could do was sit in the house and make sure everything was right for their husband. In the 1920s women started to get more social, work towards a better education, and get decent paying jobs. Some of these things are seen in The Great Gatsby by Scott F. Fitzgerald when we see Daisy and Jordan Going out more often to socialize and party with their friends and family.Women were always told to keep the house in check and to watch the kids. Going out and socializing isn’t the only thing that women starting doing.In the 1920s women started looking for better jobs that required better education, so they started going to schools and working towards getting the education they needed to work in the higher paying jobs. With more women going out and looking for education more people realized “these new developments also affected precollege and vocational education”(Breitzer). This shows that people began realizing that they would need to let the women obtain the education needed to seek the job they wanted. It allowed the women to get out of their houses and support the family like the man of the house does. But a better education isn’t the only thing women wanted. Women also wanted something to do with the education, so they needed more type of jobs at their disposal. Women started “seeking paid employment for reasons other than strict economic necessity.”(Breitzer). Letting them go out and try something different then just caring for children or the house. They got to work with other women and men using the educations they learned to better their families. It also lessen the workload on the men, as they didn’t have to work longer shifts to keep the family from going to shackles. With education and more jobs appearing women started finding what they enjoy doing, whether it be working or socializing. Many of the jobs didn’t just pay the women small amounts.Women started wanting higher paying jobs as
