The huge differences in the pay scale of both countries, the average hourly rate in Canada is from $15-$20, whereas in India is only INR 200 to INR 300 per hour in small restaurants i.e. equivalent to only CAD $4 -$6 per hour (Pay scale Canada 2016). Also, according to Euromonitor (2015), consumers in Canada prefer to eat outside in traditional and continental small restaurants but often prefer the international cuisine especially South Asian Indian Restaurants. In India, the small restaurants target routine low profile working class consumers, students, and tourists. Prasad has ranked 389 out of 11,570 restaurants in Delhi; therefore, it is one of the highly preferred South India restaurants (Trip advisor 2015). On the other hand, Sarnia has also become a centre of economic and education activities as a modern in Canada. Manjit Singh Brar is a middle-aged person (around 55 years old) and restaurant manager for more than 5 years. The location pg the Sitara restaurant is 1308 London Rd, Sarnia, Ontario. There are no fixed timings of the manager at the restaurant as he is responsible for all store affairs. The interview was agreed for quite a while but it was not possible on weekdays and on lunch or dinner timings due to extremely busy schedule. He had confirmed the appointment for Sunday, March 6,2016 at around 4 pm, as it was relaxation time after busy Sunday lunch Buffet. Mr. Manjit has more than 15 years experience in hospitality industry and has worked in leading restaurants before Sitara. He knows the retail sector in small restaurant industry quite well and is famous for entertaining customers delightfully. 1. Do you have part time or full-time workers? Both, the Chefs and admin are the full-time permanent workers, the other are contractual hourly-based workers. 2. What is the average pay range of your kitchen and admin staff? We are paying $4k per month to our head chef and $2k per month to assistants in the kitchen. The pay scale of admin staff varies from $1.5k to $3k per month. 3. The average daily working hours in your restaurant? On average, 8 hours shifts are managed in three shifts per day.
