The cause of World War I is believed to have been the assassination of the Archduke, Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Austro-Hungarian Empire is located in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Black Hand, a Serbian terrorist group, gave weapons to Gavrilo Princip. Princip then took advantage of the archduke’s visit to Germany. Ferdinand was meeting with Kaiser Wilhelm to talk about the unrest in the Balkans. The Archduke and his wife were travelling in an open car through the city of Sarajevo, when a bomb, thrown by a nationalist, rolled off the top of the car.
