The reason I have chose to write about the senate over other topics and bodies of government is because it is such a huge topic today. In politics the senate continues to be in the spotlight and the Democrat and Republican Party’s are constantly opposing one another, halting any legislation to be passed and risking another government shutdown. I believe the senators have become so blinded by money through laundering and they are so eager to favor their party over the other one that it has led senators to become greedy therefore no longer fulfilling their intended duties which were set forth in the Federalist Papers by the founding fathers.

The United States Senate is apart of the Legislative branch and their main task is to speak on behalf of the state they are representing. The Senate also provides checks and balances to the House of Representatives; this allows each branch of Congress from gaining control. According to the Federalist Papers, # 26 the importance of the Senate being on the federal level is to allow equal voting rights for the states without the size of the state contributing to voting power. Therefore all states have two senators to represent their state and allows for equal say in the legislative process. The House of Representative’s number of members of a certain state is based off of the population. The two legislative branches insure that a given state does not have too little or too much representation. With the Senate on the federal level, it protects the rights that individual states hold because the states are considered a minority and therefore the states still carry a voice in the national government.
