Conflicts with Empires Throughout history, both the Jews and the Hindus have lived involuntarily under many empires and were forced to adapt to anything that came their way. The Jews were exiled from their homeland and rushed into strange new customs and new religions in the city of Babylon. The decline of Hindu social customs and belief in the religion were due to the Muslim rule in India. Both religions suffered through many conflicts with the opposing empires but were able to handle and overcome them without having their entire religion go extinct. Buddhism not only rises above conflicts, but seeks out harmony and grows internally as well. Confucians overcome conflicts by using knowledge and learning from them in order to grow. Taoists chose the path of non-action and doing the minimum in order to forget their conflicts. Both show that their traditions have truth in them and it helps them to grow both internally and as a religion. …show more content…

Confucianism believes that conflict is not a result of some essential human impulse as it is due to the lack of acceptable development in human moral quality. Otherwise saying, in the eyes of a Confucianist, conflict is not something that is sought out for or just another human impulse, it has to do with the morals of a person and how they wish to handle situations. Instead of dwelling from mistakes, Confucians use them as opportunities to further understand and grow internally from them. According to The World’s Wisdom, Philip Novak states that, “...whenever there is shortcoming, never fail to strive for improvement, and when there is much to be said, always say less than what is necessary”(Novak, 117).
