Autism is a disorder that is affecting thousands of people every year. This disorder makes it hard to communicate and interact with others. Many people are born with it or they slowly develop it before they are five years old. Now, after many years of research and extensive testing, scientists are closer than ever to finding a cure for autism. There are many different treatment plans available right now but they are not cures.
Autistic people are overloaded with seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and experiencing. Meaning that everything just floods in way faster than their brain can process it and it overwhelms them. Because of this, people with autism are very sensitive to loud noises and bright lights, although, people with milder symptoms may not be as sensitive. Autism makes it hard to complete daily tasks such as, talking, listening, understanding words, playing and interacting with other people, getting dressed, eating, learning, and other daily routines. People with pervasive developmental disorder show the typical signs of autism but the symptoms are milder than classic autism. People with childhood disintegrative disorder live a completely normal life, without any signs or symptoms of autism, for at least the first two years of their life, then they might start losing skills they already know, such as walking and talking, and they might start showing autistic symptoms.
