1. I chose "Writing is impacted by prior experience". Before taking this course, I never considered the idea that writing could and is influenced by past experiences. I always had considered writing as something basic that is only influenced by a prompt and grammatical rules. While learning about this idea, I started to think about it and how true the concept is. The main concept from the book that supported this was literary sponsors. While I was thinking about my literacy sponsors, I started to realize how many people and/or things have influenced my past writing experiences. Before taking this course, I never considered writing to be something as important as mathematics or science. Going through this course, one of the main things that I learned was that writing is just as important as all other subjects and it's not a simple subject to master. Just by reading the book, I learned how writing is influenced by a myriad of factors that all affect different things. Learning about rhetoric taught me how writing can influence people to do things, learning about literary sponsors taught me how a person's writing can be influenced by another person or a thing, and learning about activity systems taught me how writing can affect a group's ability to accomplish goals. Literary sponsors are a concept that I will take outside of this course. Learning about literary sponsors was one of my favorite concepts because I could immediately see who my sponsors were and how they affected me. The concept was simple to learn, but It's something that I think about at least once a week and I try to think about who my current sponsors are. However, learning about rhetoric was confusing and although I have a better understanding of it now, I am still kind of confused. I know that rhetoric is essentially a way of writing or speaking that is used to influence people. However, I have heard it used in so many different contexts that it is confusing to completely understand. There were a couple of things in this course that were helpful. I would say the the most helpful thing was the video conferences with my professor. I cannot stress how much it helped me with my papers, My professor gave a lot of helpful advice and when I incorporated said advice into my paper, it made it a lot better. My suggestion for the video conferences would be to write a good draft so that your professor can give you advice that is beneficial to you. Another thing that helped was giving myself enough time to complete assignments. A couple of times I waited to start my assignments on a
