The Zodiac killer, a name he crafted himself in a letter to the San Francisco Examiner, has become one of the most frightening cases that is yet to be solved. The Zodiac later taunted the police in a letter stating, “PS. 2 cops pulled a goof about 3 min after I left the cab” (buzzfeed.con). This indiscretion is ultimately the biggest gaffe made by the police department in the Zodiac Killer case. Officer Folke stated, “he and Officer Zelms did not stop to question the man they observed that night due to a mistake in the police broadcast which described the suspect as a Black Male Adult” (zodiackillerfacts.com). This encounter would be the last and only face to face encounter with the Zodiac killer, and the last chance to find his identity. Another reason the police are at fault for the lasting case of the Zodiac Killer is their inability to catch him, even with an abundance of evidence. With at least 18 letters sent, and phone calls to the police, the Zodiac is yet to be apprehended. One suspect coined by the author Robert Graysmith, Arthur Leigh Allen, told his family he was going to Lake Berryessa, the exact location of the third zodiac killing. He also came home that night covered in blood and to top it off, a bloody knife was found in his car. Furthermore, one of Allen's
