In the annals of American crime, few cases have captivated the public attention quite like that of the Zodiac Killer. The Zodiac Killer began his series of murders, cryptic letters, and tantalizing clues during the late 1960s and the early 1970s, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The complexity of the Zodiac crimes continues to baffle investigators to this day. While the identity of the Zodiac Killer remains unknown, various theories have surfaced about potential suspects; Arthur Leigh Allen stands out as a primary suspect due to his behavioral characteristics associated with the perpetrator and compelling circumstantial evidence suggesting his involvement with the series of murders. The fact that Allen's height and familiarity with the Bay Area also matches the description of the Zodiac adds further circumstantial evidence that he was the serial killer. Furthermore, the Zodiac ceased his reign of terror in 1974, coinciding with Allen's conviction for child molestation. He served a five-year sentence in a mental hospital, with the sentence being suspended after three years followed by five years on parole. There are many theories that exist regarding the Zodiac Killer's identity, with many pointing to Arthur Leigh Allen as being the prime suspect. However, due to lack of DNA evidence at the crime scenes, it leaves room for doubt. There are also indications that suggest Lawrence Kane could have been the Zodiac Killer due to him stalking one of the Zodiac’s victims.
