5.1 Explain the principles of marketing Principles of marketing are a number of things; you have market research, advertisements and sales. At Real Skills we focus on all three aspects in varying depths, sales is the main goal of the company as I am given targets that I must reach on a weekly and a monthly period. As sales is the main area Real Skills focus on we have now started to look at other areas like marketing and advertising to try and increase the sales we currently have, I have recently headed up a radio advertisement campaign used in the surrounding areas in Liverpool to try and reach customers we may not currently hit with local advertisements and brand awareness. Without a strong brand you cannot make yourself seen within the industry you are in. Your brand is everything that you are it is your logo, your colour scheme down to the customer service you provide, and as stated before it is what sets you apart from your competition. Within Real Skills we are currently revamping our brand to give us a more professional look, our old branding and logo was deemed by the directors to give of somewhat of a childish theme so we have had the logo and colour scheme changed to a more business/professional look. The brand change is all in the idea we will be seen as a more professional company and therefore will give us a good base to push for bigger contracts and cement ourselves within the industry. Your brand is who knows you and who trusts you, for example, within Real Skills we do a lot of work with the British Legion, local job centre and Connexions offices as we have a brand in the Liverpool area and they know they will receive a good service from us every time. A strong brand can reach people on a global scale like Coca Cola is known on every continent of the globe as it has built up a trusted brand over a long period of time, this is similar to Real Skills within the Merseyside area, we are known for offering a great service taking people from nothing to a Railway worker within 3
