Child Abuse is a problem many have been working to fight, from psychologist, law enforcers and social workers they all have its end on their mind. Not only are the amount of reports growing per day but so is the number of deaths. Children often find themselves caught up in these situations and not knowing what to do. Hearing about something happening on the news is nothing like actually experiencing it, and when found face to face with this issue, children recede and are discombobulated on how to react to the situation. Prevention Programs are up and rising and have many benefits towards raising awareness. In this book he talks about his life as a young boy, and his struggles with his abusive mother. In his story, he tells us all the horrific details of the extent of his mother's abuse beginning at a young age, where he is treated normally by his mother, and then proceeds to tell his audience about the abuse. Beside the large amount of emotional abuse that he was exposed to, David fell victim to his mothers “games”, where he was forced to swallow soap, ammonia, and clorox. As well as starved, burned, forced to sleep on a cardboard box in the basement, had to run to school every morning and when his mother found out he stole food to survive, she forced him to throw up and eat the vomit. At one point his mother even went as far as to stab him, and then proceed to send him back to the basement to deal with the wound alone. Davids case is a gruesome example of what many kids face everyday. Child abuse is one of the leading causes of deaths in children. According to the American Society for the Positive Care of Children, a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds, and more than four children die every day as a result of child abuse. Numbers such as these can really open our eyes to the reality of child abuse and the effects it has on our
