Human trafficking occurs every day in the country. Human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery. Traffickers use violence, threats, and other manipulative tactics are used to force the victim in to sex, labor, or other services against their will (Winebrenner & Aeronautical, 2015). Florida is an active region for human trafficking, an estimated amount of 18,000 to 50,000 people were trafficked. Human traffickers believes that the risk for trafficking humans is low. Investigations, prosecutions, and penalties were increased for traffickers, however, many traffickers believe that the high profit margin to be worth it (“Human trafficking,” 2016).
