Dear Members of the Graduate Program Committee: Thank you for providing me the opportunity to address my situation. I would like to thank Dr. Mohamed Hefeeda for his intervention at the end of the fall 2017 semester to help craft a plan that would allow me to remain in the Masters in Big Data program. I tried to work diligently in the spring 2018 semester to earn this opportunity. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, including concerns around my health, I was unsuccessful. In this appeal, I would like to submit a possible plan to move forward, if I am allowed to stay in the program, and also provide an explanation of the circumstances that led to this point. Plan to move forward and get into good academic standing: The program requires me to maintain a 3.0 on average. I believe I can still finish my courses for the program by spring. I would like to take one course in the summer while concentrating on improving my programming and building side projects. I had submitted a written plan to the program director to improve my programming throughout the summer. The plan includes submitting a weekly report specifying the work being done along with the proof of work. I talked to my professor requesting an extension (48 hours would have been enough) but my request was denied. I submitted my project in rush, without proof reading and got penalized heavily for this (can be seen on the project review comments). Dishearteningly I got 25 out of 50 in my project that turned my potential A to a C+. I had requested a reevaluation of the project, to give me an opportunity to submit the proofread version of the project report. My request was not
