As a person that strives to build on new experiences and educational opportunities, I was very excited to learn about the co-op program provided by Ryerson University. I am very thankful to the professors and university staff that have promoted this program because due to them I was able to learn about this opportunity. As a going-on second year Accounting and Finance student, I see this co-op program as a chance to apply my knowledge and previous experiences to real-life scenarios in the professional business world. During my first year at the prestigious Ted Rogers School of Management, I started my university experience strong by managing my course load along with a part-time job and extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, I was not able to finish one of my required elective courses due to a family situation that occurred before my midterm resulting in the course being dropped. But as the determined and goal-oriented person as I am, I have created a schedule that I am determined to follow to make sure I am back on track and in the same position as my fellow colleagues. My volunteer and work experience has allowed me to gain people skills that are essential in a business workplace. As a crew member working at McDonalds, I have gained great teamwork, co-operative and communicating skills that have been applauded by senior colleagues and managers.
