A Self-Reflection on Work Preferences and Clinical Neuropsychology Currently in Australia there are nine practiced areas of endorsement for Psychologists (Australian Psychological Society, n.d.), all of which have overlapping characteristics and key differences which set themselves apart. To become an endorsed Psychologist is no easy feat, it requires a minimum of six years of education and training, which involves the completion of a three-year undergraduate degree and a single year postgraduate program or equivalent (Psychology Board of Australia, 2013). The next phase requires a hopeful psychologist to complete their provisional registration, which usually lasts two years and involves additional education and training, after this is completed they are eligible for general registration. The fundamental difference between CNP and other Psychologists is the emphasis and specialization placed on the structures and functions of the brain. The collective goal for a CNP is to use their refined knowledge to assess a client’s impairment and then introduce a treatment method that is individually designed for that client, this treatment program may be short term or lifelong (Monash University, 2017). One of CNP’s strengths is that it is abundantly diverse and typically involves psychological, biological, educational and medical viewpoints.
