When I learned that I will be taking English Composition I course, I was ecstatic. I expected this class to help me strengthen areas of my grammar and mechanics skills, help organize my information better, and learn how to write an effective piece. In this class, I feel the most important skill I learned was APA formatting. The help I received to better understand APA formatting was outstanding and it really showed me show much these instructors want me to succeed.
As much as I love to write, there is still a lot insecurity I held when presenting a piece. I felt nothing is perfect until it has been through multiple revisions, but sometimes that takes the very essence away from the piece. Now, that I better understand the writing

Chapman critiqued my work and said that she was concerned about my APA in-text citations. I am not even going to lie and say I was not discouraged in the slightest because I was. I thought I had followed the directions as closely as possible, and here it was in my feedback telling me I did not meet that. Determination settled into my bones as I promptly contacted my instructor and the Writing Center setting up meetings to correct this issue. Ms. Chapman explained to me why my APA citations were incorrect and how I can fix them. I feel my determination will help me reach far in my next classes because I am going to run into obstacles of not understanding the information or the assignments I am supposed to turn in and it’s my job to make sure that I do by always asking my instructors what I can do to fix the issues. It’s an important quality to have as a director because lack of communication can cause small problems to snowball into huge messes. In my road to becoming a female director, I have a lot of doors to kick down in this male dominated industry and it’s going to take patience and perseverance to do
