Worldview The term “worldview” can be defined in many different ways. It is a perspective or process one uses to interpret information received about the world. Our worldview is influenced by our education, our upbringing, books we read, the culture we live in, the movies we see, Media, etc. According to (Weider & Gutierrez, Finding Your Worldview p.59) a person’s worldview “Is a philosophy of life, a framework a person brings to decision- making,” whether it is decisions about life, school, a new job, or more importantly religion. They believe everything is a part of God rather than God being the creator. Pantheist denies the existence of a personal God. Hinduism, Buddhism, and New Age Movement all involve reference of the universe rather than and creator or personal God. (Weider & Gutierrez, 2014 p.63) The Bible sets the stage for all aspects of life and culture. All knowing, all powerful, all present is HE. Belief in God as the creator of all things, human race, and ruler of the universe. This God is usually personal and relates to humankind in an intimate way. (Weider & Gutierrez, Finding Your Worldview p.63) Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all fall under this belief system.
Conclusion
There are several factors to be used to help identify or recognize a person’s belief system. One reliable source is to simply ask the right questions in reference to their origin, identity, purpose, ethics, or destiny. Ask questions like “How did life begin”, “Why do you believe we exist”, or specifically to destiny “What are your beliefs on life and death?” (Weider & Gutierrez, Finding Your Worldview 2014)
From a Biblical worldview, Christians are taught to use the Bible to find answers to questions of where life originates from, or what our purpose is. The Bible is a filter for our belief system. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) reads “All Scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” We may not always agree with one’s opinions but asking the right questions respectfully sets a firm foundation for
