Every year, throughout the world, there are an estimated 36 to 53 million abortions performed. In the U.S. alone, nearly one-third of all pregnancies end in abortion.(Guttmacher Institute, 2016) In the last decades, abortion has become a growing target for criticism as well as acceptance in today’s changing society. Two opposing sides have emerged from this problem: Those who oppose abortion, “Pro-life”, have concerns about protecting human life. While those who favor abortion, “Pro-choice”, feel it is the right of an individual to make the decision on their own. When dealing with such a sensitive topic to abortion, in which there are in two extremely diverse viewpoints, it is difficult to present a sensible solution to the way it should be. They believe it is a woman’s body, her choice. She should be able to decide whether or not to abort the baby. I understand this but is it someone’s choice to kill a human? Once they are pregnant, there is already life. The opposing side believes in the first few weeks of pregnancy, there is no human life which is incorrect. The baby begins life in the first week. Another reason people support abortion rights is for certain occasions such as rape, teen pregnancy, or a sickness the mother may have. I agree with the reasons why they would find it alright to abort the baby in some ways. The pro-choice believe the fact of not harming the baby from the mother’s sickness but another option is adoption! For teen pregnancies, there are some religious beliefs as to where you should not have premarital sex. If you do not want a child, you should not have sex at a young age because it is not always safe. Aborting a human is not worth risking a woman’s life.
