Abraham Lincoln went through many ups and downs befores he became the 16th President of the United States. From the death of his mother when he was young not getting along with his father after her death and his political fails. These among lots of other things these are what made Abraham into the man we all know as Honest Abe today. In this paper you are going to learn about Abraham Lincoln’s childhood, adult, and political life.
Abraham Lincoln was born to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln on February 12th, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln had two siblings, Sarah and Thomas Lincoln. As a boy Abraham Lincoln and his family moved from Kentucky to Indiana when he was seven years old. Two years later when Abraham Lincoln was nine his mother died from milk sickness. Because he was so well known and the people agreed with his views they made him their leader for the Black Hawk war. After the war he ran as a candidate for the Illinois Legislature and didn’t get elected but in 1834 he ran again and got elected this time. In his time in the Legislature he made a friend named Dr. Fithian. They became really good friends and Abe came down to Danville, Illinois to represent Fithian in court. When Abe would come to Danville, Fithian would help him out with money and a place to stay. Abe served four terms and became a leader. He also played a big part in having Illinois’ capital changed from Vandalia to Springfield. In 1837 he moved to Springfield to become stuart Law’s partner, then ten years later he was elected into the United States congress. Abraham Lincoln’s campaign skills surprised John Todd Stuart and encouraged Lincoln to become a lawyer . In his 30’s He married Mary Todd on November 2, 1842, and had four sons, William Lincoln, Robert Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, and Edward
