"Innocent until proven guilty." That’s always been the law, so why was Adnan Syed sentenced 25 years to life without parole? January 13th 1999 Hae Min Lee goes missing. Friends and family described her as beautiful, smart, responsible, and athletic (she played Lacrosse and hockey). On February 9th Haes' body was found in Leaken Park by a maintenance man. Her cause of death was ruled as manual strangulation. Adnans friends and family were all surprised when Adnan (Hae's ex boyfriend) was arrested for her murder. Everyone described their relationship as " a normal high school relationship." The couple loved each other they had normal high school arguments but always made up and were back in love. I believe the court system made a mistake and put the wrong guy in prison. There was never enough concrete evidence to place Adnan at the scene of the crime. However, Adnan's friend/weed dealer, Jay, claims that Adnan told him that he was going to kill Hae. Jay even goes as far to say that he helped Adnan bury Hae's body, says he just didn’t remember where they buried her. Yet Jay only got 2 years of probation. The police said they gathered enough evidence on Adnan to prove that he was the one who killed Hae. Evidence meaning they found Adnans prints in her car, using testimony, and since Adnan could not remember where he was at the exact moment of Hae's death.
