Adnan is convicted: Does he deserve it? Adnan Syed should not be convicted of murdering Hae Min Lee. As of February 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted of first-degree murder by court. For years, many have question Adnan’s case, wondering if a young teenager should be convicted of murder and spend the rest of his life behind bars. Based on a collection of testimonies and evidence, Adnan Syed should not be convicted of murder. First and foremost, there is a lack of evidence to prove that Adnan murdered Hae. There is no physical evidence in or around the murder scene to justify Adnan killed Hae. Asia’s story shows that Adnan was not around Hae at the time of her murder. According to Asia, Adnan was in the library around 2:30 – the same time Hae was murdered- proving that Adnan was wrongfully convicted. Furthermore, Asia wrote Adnan a note which states “I’m not sure if you remember talking to me in the library on January 13th, but I remembered chatting with you. This restates my claim that Adnan being in wrongfully convicted based on Asia’s testimony. The court and others may argue that Adnan and Hae’s past relationship is enough for Adnan to be convicted. Adnan lived in a Muslim home were dating was forbidden, but he pushed all of that away to date Hae. Adnan and Hae dated for a while, and then they had a tragic breakup.
